Biography

Salebarbes, a traditional Acadian music group, was formed in 2019 by Éloi Painchaud, Jonathan Painchaud, Kevin McIntyre, George Belliveau and Jean-François Breau. The five men were driven by a single ambition: to preserve the heritage of traditional Acadian and Cajun songs. This ambition, combined with a taste for the blues, quickly won them an increasingly enthusiastic following, and helped them carve out a place for themselves on the French-speaking cultural scene in Quebec and Acadia. Their first album, Live au Pas Perdus, was released in 2019, and the following year was awarded the prize for "traditional album of the year" at the 42nd Prix Félix gala, organized by the Association québécoise de l'industrie du disque, du spectacle et de la vidéo, which honors Quebec songwriters. In 2021, the group followed up with the album Gin à l'eau salée, which quickly became a hit with Good Lord (#49).
