Biography

Ryota Katayose is a singer, dancer and actor who made his name as part of the J-pop boy band Generations from Exile Tribe. He was born in Yao, Osaka, in 1994 and was raised around music with a father and grandfather who had both worked as music teachers and he learned to play the piano during his childhood. Katayose's earliest brush with fame came in 2010 when he auditioned for 'Vocal Audition 2: Yume o Motta Wakamono-tachi e', making it as far as the final. Despite not winning, the show landed him on the books of Osaka's EXPG (Exile Professional Gym). The following year he was put forward as a potential member of Generations from Exile Tribe (then known simply as 'Generations') and in April 2012 became a fully-fledged member. They debuted with the single 'Brave it Out', which became the theme song for the NTV drama 'Sugarless', later that year. In 2014, while still preforming his duties with Generations, Katayose made his acting debut in the drama 'GTO' and by 2017 he had graduated to leading man as the star of the film 'My Brother Loves Me Too Much'. In 2020 Katayose released the single 'Possible' as a solo artist.
