Biography

RVG (Romy Vager Group) are a post-punk-infused indie rock band from Melbourne (Naarm), Australia, formed in 2015 by singer-songwriter Romy Vager (vocals and lead guitar). The current lineup also features Reuben Bloxham (guitar, keys), Marc Nolte (drums), and Isabele Wallace (bass), with previous bass player Angus Bell leaving the band in 2019. Their music blends jangling guitar pop with post-punk, goth, and 1980s college rock sensibilities—melding tuneful sophistication with the raw energy of punk and garage. Influences include the Go-Betweens, Soft Boys, and Sisters of Mercy. The band's debut, A Quality of Mercy (2017) was recorded live in Melbourne's Tote club and released independently; it garnered rapid acclaim and was later reissued via Fat Possum Records for the UK/EU market. Their second album, Feral (2020), produced by Victor Van Vugt, captured the urgency of live performance and earned strong praise for its cathartic power. Third Album Brain Worms (2023)—which yielded the 2025 hit single "Nothing Really Changes"—was created in London with producer James Trevascus, while they released the "Don't Take It Badly / Pet Sematary" single in 2024.
