Biography
Rutger Van Eck, aka Russo, is a DJ, producer, rapper and media personality born in Houten on November 21, 1998. He began rapping on instrumentals downloaded from the Internet at the age of thirteen, and made his own mixes with a DJ table, which were the subject of several broadcasts on an FM radio station. In 2016, after studying at the Herman Brood Academy, he produced a debut track for Jebroer, who was his teacher, then released his debut album Vergeet Me Niet for the TopNotch label in 2018. After two EPs for ROQ 'N Rolla, Ego (2019) and Ego 2 (2020), Russo unveils a second album, Eenzame Grote Dromers (2021), featuring Gian and Yves. In a style that borrows from urban pop, electro and rap, the singer and producer of his own albums collaborates with the group Bankzitters and many other artists. In 2023, he became an influential figure on the Internet with his own video channel devoted to various subjects, and invited numerous artists to join him. He continues to record a number of singles, including two duets with Matthy, "Supernova" in 2023 and the hit "Hotel" in 2025, which reached No. 7 in the Dutch Billboard charts.
