Biography

Rudolf Koelman, born on October 2, 1959, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a Dutch violinist and professor. He studied violin with Jan Bor and Herman Krebbers in Amsterdam and at the age of 18 studied under Jascha Heifetz on a full scholarship at the University of Southern California. Koelman began his career as a professor of violin and chamber music at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 1987, where he also directs the ZHdK Strings Chamber Orchestra. He has frequently performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras worldwide, including the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Koelman's discography includes numerous recordings, including a live recording of Niccolò Paganini’s 24 Caprices.
