Jean-Marc Thibault, born on August 24, 1923 in Saint-Bris-le-Vineux, and Roger Pierre, born on August 30, 1923 in Paris, saw their names associated in the public mind for three decades. After the Second World War, the former, who had been performing sketches in cabarets, and the latter, a radio announcer at Radio Luxembourg, decided to form a comedy duo. Their shows combined text, song and mime. In all, they produced some 3,000 sketches together and released a number of albums, including "La Vie est belle" in 1956, "Dansez le Charleston" in 1958, "Le Temps des Zazous " in 1963 and "On veut s'fendre la poire" in 1969. They also released several compilations of their best live performances, including Nos Premiers Sketches in 1965 and Les Années Rire by Roger Pierre and Jean-Marc Thibault . The pair ended their partnership in 1976 to pursue solo careers. Jean-Marc Thibault devoted himself to theater and television, while Roger Pierre became a regular guest on the Jeux de 20 Heures, then the Grosses Têtes . Roger Pierre died of cancer at the age of 86 on January 23, 2010 in Le Port-Marly, while his partner reached the age of 93, passing away on May 28, 2017 in Marseille.
