Rob Burger, born on March 26, 1971, is an American composer, arranger, music director, and multi-instrumentalist. He began playing piano at age six and later studied classical performance at the University of Massachusetts. In 1994, he joined the Bill Frisell Band as an accordionist. Burger moved to San Francisco in 1995 and formed the Tin Hat Trio, co-writing and co-producing four critically acclaimed recordings including Helium (2000) and The Rodeo Eroded (2002). In 2001, he returned to New York and collaborated with John Zorn. Burger released solo albums such as Lost Photograph (2002), City of Strangers (2009), and The Grid (2019). He has also scored numerous films, including Everything is Illuminated, directed by Liev Schreiber, and Nebraska, directed by Alexander Payne.
