Biography

Richmond Fontaine, an American alternative country band based in Portland, Oregon, was formed in 1994. The group gained initial traction touring the Pacific Northwest and releasing early albums on Cavity Search Records. Their breakthrough came with a song included on Vinyl Junkie Records' Loose compilation released in the UK, followed by their self-released album Winnemucca (2002). In 2003, Richmond Fontaine signed with Decor Records in Europe, where both Post to Wire (2003) and The Fitzgerald (2005) were named "Albums of the Month" by influential magazine Uncut. Their albums include Safety (1996), Lost Son (1999), Thirteen Cities (2007), and The High Country (2011). The band's final studio album, You Can't Go Back If There's Nothing To Go Back To (2016), reached number 65 on the UK Albums Chart and Number 1 on the UK Country Chart. Richmond Fontaine disbanded in 2016.
