Richard Abel, born April 1, 1955, in Montreal, Canada, is a Quebec pianist. Influenced by his mother's love for music, Abel began playing piano at an early age and took formal lessons starting at 14. His first professional engagement was as a pianist and conductor for Michel Louvain. Abelâs career gained traction with his debut album Enfin in 1988. He released several notable albums, including Mélodies, nominated for Instrumental Album of the Year at the ADISQ Gala in 1991, and Noël au Piano, which won the Félix Award for Instrumental Album of the Year in 1992. Abel has performed in prestigious venues such as the Place des Arts and Centre Bell, and his album Hommage aux Compositeurs Canadiens et Québécois won the Félix Award for Instrumental Album of the Year in 2005.
