Don Reno and Red Smiley, known collectively as Reno And Smiley, were an American musical duo. Don Reno was born Donald Wesley Reno on May 17, 1925 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, while Arthur Lee "Red" Smiley was born on February 21, 1925 in Marshall, North Carolina. Reno And Smiley first recorded together in 1951 for Federal Records. They formed the Tennessee Cut-Ups and gained popularity in the southeast and mid-Atlantic regions, starting the early morning country music TV show Top o' the Morning in December 1956. Their notable albums include Instrumentals And Ballads and Sacred Songs. In November 1964, Reno kept the band name and added his son Ronnie Reno on mandolin. Red Smiley passed away in January 1972 at age 47. Don Reno continued performing with his sons until his death in October 1984 at the age of 59. In 1992, they were inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor.
