Biography
Chezidek, born Desbert Johnson in 1973 in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, is a Jamaican roots reggae singer. He began singing at school concerts and was a member of the St. Ann's Bay Marching Band before performing on local sound systems under the name Chilla Rinch. After moving to Kingston, he began working with producer Philip "Fatis" Burrell of Xterminator Production and released his debut album, Harvest Time, in 2002. He followed with Rising Sun (2005), Mash Dem Down (2006), Firm Up Yourself (2007), and Judgement Time (2010). His best-known songs include "Leave De Trees," which appeared on the BBC TOP 10 dancehall chart, "Let's Stay Together", which reached number 9 on the Jamaica Airplay chart, and "Call Pon Dem," which was featured on the fictional Massive B Sound System radio station in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV.
