Biography

Ranarim, a Swedish folk band, was formed in 1997 by Sofia Sandén, Ulrika Bodén, Niklas Roswall, and Jens Engelbrecht during their time at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. The band's name translates to "Tau carpet" with "rana" meaning a gobelin or tapestry and "rim" being an old Swedish word for "dew." Ranarim initially gained recognition through their unique blend of traditional folk music and modern pop influences, featuring original compositions alongside reinterpreted folk songs. Their debut album, Till ljusan dag, was released in 2000. The band's second album, För världen älskar vad som är brokot (2003), included a notable rendition of the poem "Skulle jag sörja?" by Swedish poet Lasse Lucidor. Ranarim continued to release albums, including Morgonstjärna (2006) and Allt vid den ljusa stjärnan (2008). The band disbanded in late 2010 due to familial and professional reasons.
