Biography

Denis Charles Pratt, known professionally as Quentin Crisp, was born on December 25, 1908 in Sutton, Surrey, United Kingdom. Initially working as an artist's model, Crisp gained public attention with the release of her memoir The Naked Civil Servant in 1968. The book detailed her unconventional life and experiences, including her time as a rent boy and her flamboyant personality. In 1975, the television adaptation of The Naked Civil Servant, starring John Hurt, brought Crisp widespread recognition. This led to a successful career as a performer, with her one-man show becoming a long-running hit in both Britain and America. Crisp also appeared in various films and television programs. Notable works include the album An Evening With Quentin Crisp (1979). Crisp passed away on November 21, 1999.
