Biography
The Enesco Quartet, a French string quartet based in Paris, was formed in 1979 to honor composer Georges Enesco. The group's founders trained with notable musicians such as Sándor Végh, Norbert Brainin, and Sergiu Celibidache, establishing themselves internationally early on. Their repertoire included classical and romantic works from the 18th to 20th centuries. The Enesco Quartet has performed in prestigious venues worldwide, including the Salle Pleyel and Théâtre des Champs-Ãlysées in Paris, and collaborated with artists like Jean-Pierre Rampal and Mstislav Rostropovich. Notable recordings include Franck: Quintette - Chausson: Quatuor (1992) and Bartok: Quatuors No.4 & 6 (2010). They received the Diapason d'Or for their recording of Franck and Chausson with Gabriel Tacchino, and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019.
