Biography

Pug Jelly was a mult-national pop punk band formed by Japanese guitarist Masashi Kimura and Australian brothers Australians Sam Cooper (vocals, bass)) and Matt Cooper (drums). The bandmates met while enrolled at the same high school in Singapore, where they launched Pug Jelly in 1999. After signing with Universal Records, Pug Jelly released the debut album Motivation for Getting Up in the Morning in 2004 and played shows alongside pop punk heavyweights like Fall Out Boy, Avril Lavigne, and Simple Plan. "Come Home Soon," the lead single from Motivation for Getting Up in the Morning, peaked at Number 1 on the Singaporean radio charts, earned the band a nomination at the MTV Asia Awards in 2005. Following a flurry of international tour dates, the band embarked upon an extended hiatus, then briefly reunited under the new name "Saw Loser" for an Asian tour in 2007. Two years later, Pug Jelly's original lineup reunited once again as a different group named Dirt Radicals, releasing the debut album I've Got A Rad Feelin' About This! in 2010. Dirt Radicals toured heavily for two years and received airplay on several English-language radio stations in Singapore, although the group was unable to replicate the chart-topping success of Pug Jelly's material.
