Biography
Pierre Hamon, born on May 13, 1956, in Morlaix, France, is a musician and composer known for his work with recorder and various world flutes. Initially self-taught, he later refined his skills under Walter van Hauwe at Amsterdam. His career began with performances in ensembles like Guillaume de Machaut and Gilles Binchois. Hamon's collaboration with Jordi Savall since 1995 has been particularly notable. He has also explored traditional European and other cultural musics, studying under Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia for the bansuri flute. In 1994, he established the first recorder class at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique in France and taught at the CNSMD Lyon. Hamon's discography included Ondas (2015) and collaborations with ensembles like Alla Francesca. He composed the original music for the animated film Pachamama (2018), which was nominated for a César Award in 2019, and several documentaries.
