Biography
Pierre Dominique Lucien Dutour was a French trumpeter born on November 10, 1931, in Boulogne-sur-Gesse. He began playing harmonica as a child, later switching to the cornet à pistons inspired by Louis Armstrong. Post-World War II, Dutour joined Henri Lovel's orchestra in Toulouse and performed at venues like L'Albrighi cabaret. In the early 1960s, he became part of the Jeunesses musicales de France orchestra directed by Claude Bolling. Dutour was also the regular trumpeter for Nino Ferrer and contributed to studio recordings with the Borelli label. He composed works for sound illustration, including the Dance and Mood Music series for the Chappell label, and played the trumpet solo in Joe Dassin's "L'Ãté indien". Dutour passed away on October 31, 2023.
