Biography
Pharmakon is the solo experimental music project of American composer and producer Margaret Chardiet, who was born in 1990. Chardiet began her career at age 17 in the underground noise scene and was inspired by the Red Light District collective in Far Rockaway. She released her eponymous debut EP, Pharmakon, (2009) followed by her first full-length studio album, Abandon (2013). Her second recording, Bestial Burden, was released (2014) and was inspired by her experiences following a medical surgery. The track âBestial Burdenâ (2014) was ranked at number 75 on the Pitchfork list of the best songs of the year. Her discography includes the studio albums Contact (2017), Devour (2019), and Maggot Mass (2024).
