Pete Lawrence, born on October 29, 1957, in the United Kingdom, is a British musician and producer known for his work in ambient and electronic music. In the mid-80s, Lawrence established the Cooking Vinyl label and recorded The Texas Campfire Tapes with singer-songwriter Michelle Shocked, which reached Number 1 in the UK Independent album charts. He created The Big Chill concept in February 1994, initially as a Sunday multimedia club, which evolved into one of the top UK festivals by 2007, reaching a capacity of 35,000 attendees. Lawrence also released his own recording project, Chilled By Nature, including EPs and collaborations, and live performances at The Big Chill festival.
