Per Wilhelm Asplin, known professionally as Per Asplin, was born on August 10, 1928, in Tønsberg, Norway. He began his career as a singer and actor, debuting with the single "Min gutt"/"Lathans" released by His Master's Voice in 1952. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Asplin released several notable singles including "Abu-cabu-co"/"Swing it, Metronom", "Holme-Holmestrand"/"Ditt og datt og dott", and "Ain't Misbehavin'"/"School Days". He was also a member of the vocal group The Monn Keys. Asplin's acting career included roles in various films and television series, notably Gylne ungdom (1956) and Jul i skomakergata (1979). In 1965, he played Tony in the Norwegian production of West Side Story. He also participated in the Melodi Grand Prix festival multiple times. Asplin's most enduring contribution is the musical "Putti Plutti Pott og julenissens skjegg", which remains popular during Christmas seasons. He passed away on October 9, 1996, in Oslo.
