Biography

People! was an American rock band formed in San Jose, California in 1965. The group initially included members such as Robb Levin, Geoff Levin, Albert Ribisi, and Larry Norman. Their breakthrough came with the release of their single "I Love You" in 1968, which reached Number 1 in several countries including Japan, Israel, Australia, Italy, South Africa, and the Philippines, and peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band's debut album I Love You was released the same year. People! continued to release music throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s, including albums such as Both Sides of People (1969) and There Are People and There Are People (1970). Notable singles from this period include "Apple Cider" and "For What It's Worth". The band faced internal conflicts in the late 1960s, particularly involving Larry Norman's refusal to join Scientology. This led to his departure from the group. In October 2007, People! was inducted into the San Jose Rocks Hall of Fame. Featuring a core lineup of Gene Mason, Denny Fridkin, Robb Levin, Geoff Levin, and John Tristao, the band later recorded and released the album funded through an Indiegogo campaign in May 2018.
