Biography

Pedro the Lion is an American indie rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1995 by David Bazan, who served as its primary creative force. The band released its debut EP Whole in 1997, followed by its first full-length album It’s Hard To Find A Friend in 1998. Subsequent albums include Winners Never Quit (2000) and Control (2002). The band’s fourth full-length album, Achilles Heel, was released in 2004, marking a shift toward more collaborative songwriting. In early 2006, Pedro the Lion announced its breakup, after which Bazan continued his career as a solo artist under his own name. In late 2017, Bazan revived Pedro the Lion, initially focusing on live performances of the band’s catalog before releasing new material beginning with Phoenix in 2019.
