Paulo César Pinheiro, born on April 28, 1949, in Brazil, is a notable Brazilian poet and composer. His career began with significant contributions to Musica Popular Brasileira (MPB), where he wrote lyrics for numerous songs performed by some of the most recognized entertainers in Brazil. Among his collaborators were João Nogueira, Francis Hime, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Ivan Lins, and Maria Bethânia. Notable works include Poemas Escolhidos (1983), O Lamento do Samba (2003), and Capoeira de Besouro (2010). In 2011, Dori Caymmi released Poesia Musicada (2011), which celebrated 42 years of his collaboration with Pinheiro. Pinheiro has also authored several books, including Canto Brasileiro (1973) and Atabaques, Violas e Bambus (2000).
