Opus Atlantica, a Swedish power metal band, was formed as a project of Pete Sandberg, a prominent Swedish singer who has contributed to over 20 full-length albums. Jonas Reingold, a notable Swedish bassist known for his work with bands such as Time Requiem and The Flower Kings, is also a key member. Opus Atlantica's sound drew influences from heavy metal, opera, and traditional hard rock, resulting in a neo-classical style. Their debut album, Opus Atlantica, was released in 2002 under the Regain Records label.
