Oliver von Dohnányi, born on March 2, 1955, in TrenÄÃn, is a Czech conductor. He studied conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Dohnányi began his career as the conductor of the Radio Symphony Orchestra Bratislava in 1979. From 1986 to 1991, he served as music director at the Slovak National Theatre, leading productions such as Tosca. He also conducted the Slovak Philharmonic and Cappella Istropolitana, performing internationally. From 1993 to 2007, he was music director at the National Theatre Prague, directing the opera La Bohème and touring with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Dohnányi also served as director of the Prague State Opera in 2010 but resigned due to financial difficulties. He has been a guest conductor at notable venues including the Vienna State Opera and the Bolshoi Theatre.
