Odilio González, born on March 5, 1937, in Piletas barrio, Lares, Puerto Rico, is a singer and guitarist known for his contributions to traditional Puerto Rican folkloric music. He began singing at funerals in Lares and gained popularity as a child star through early radio performances in San Juan. González adopted the stage name "El Jibarito de Lares" and debuted on the New York City stage in 1958, performing at Teatro Puerto Rico. His first recordings of traditional jÃbaro music were released by Ansonia Records during this period. In 1962, he crossed over into pop music with the release of "Celos Sin Motivo", composed by Ismael Santiago. González has continued to perform around Puerto Rico and on trips to the United States. His discography includes albums such as Celos Sin Motivos and Jibarito de Lares.
