Wolfgang Pliverits, known professionally as Norman Ascot, is a German singer, composer, and producer born on June 18, 1941, in Berlin. He trained as a wholesaler before beginning his musical career, influenced by the musical backgrounds of his parents. In 1963, he formed the group the Gents and released the single âAnnabellâ under the pseudonym Tom Schütt. Ascot founded the Singing Strings in 1965. Between 1978 and 1980, he was a founding member and producer of the group Sunday. Starting in 1978, he produced ten singles and six albums for the group The Teens. In 1986, Ascot received gold and platinum certifications for the Roland Kaiser album Dich zu lieben, which featured the song âSieben Fässer Weinâ. He collaborated with Roger Whittaker and Silvia Gehrke on the 1991 gold record âSieben Jahre, sieben Meereâ. Under the name Norman Ascot Soundset, he released the instrumental albums California Sunrise and Twilight.
