Nina & Mike, born Michaela Hennemann and Lothar Schäfer respectively, are a German Schlager duo. They met in 1963 when Mike was a guitarist and Nina joined as a singer, later marrying and beginning their musical journey together. The duo initially released singles under the names "Joe & Jenny" and "Michaela & Lothar." In 1970, they adopted the name Nina & Mike and released "Lola", a German cover of The Kinks' hit. Their breakthrough came with "Rund um die Welt geht das Lied der Liebe" in 1973, which reached number 20 in Germany. The following year, they achieved their biggest commercial success with "Fahrende Musikanten", which peaked at number 5 and stayed in the charts for 25 weeks. They were awarded the "Goldene Europa" by Saarländischer Rundfunk in 1974. Their second top 10 hit was "Paloma Blanca" in 1975, a German version of George Baker Selection's song. Nina & Mike participated in the German Eurovision Song Contest pre-selection in 1976 with "Komm gehâ mit mir", placing fourth. Despite their divorce in 1976, they continued to work together until Nina's death from lung cancer on April 7, 2005. Lothar passed away on July 16, 2015. Throughout their career, Nina & Mike released over ten albums and more than sixty singles.
