Nicolas Paugam, born 27â¯Februaryâ¯1970 in Nantes, France, is a French chanson singer whose early exposure to music came from a theatrical mother and a musically inclined stepfather. He began playing guitar at nineteen while living in PuyâenâVelay and later formed the group Les Syncopâs, later renamed Da Capo, with his brother Alexandre; the band released four albums between 1997 and 2012. Nicolas Paugamâs solo debut Aqua Mostlae appeared in 2014, followed by Mon Agitation (2015), Boustrophédon (2017), Le ventre et lâestomac (2019), Padre Padrone (2021), La délicatesse (2023), and La balade sauvage (2024). Nicolas Paugamâs repertoire features collaborations with J.â¯P.â¯Nataf and a reinterpretation of Georgesâ¯Brassensâ Bécassine. While chart positions remain modest, Nicolas Paugamâs work has been noted by Télérama for its lyricism and sonic diversity.
