Dolores Jiménez Alcántara, known as Niña de la Puebla, was born in 1908 in La Puebla de Cazalla, Spain. An eye infection shortly after birth resulted in blindness. She began her musical education at eight and launched her career after winning Cante competitions in Marchena and Osuna following a performance at a festival in Morón de la Frontera in 1928. Jiménez gained initial success with a lighter version of "Los Campanilleros". In 1933, she made her film debut in Madre AlegrÃa (1933). Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, she starred in numerous flamenco operas and films. Notable performances include Ãpera flamenca (1947) with El Cojo de Huelva, and Y pasan las coplas (1947) with Pepe Marchena. She toured extensively until 1970, collaborating with artists like Juanito Valderrama. She passed away on June 14, 1999, in Málaga, Spain. Other notable tours include El sentir de la copla (1950) and Noche flamenca (1963).
