Biography

The New Orleans Nightcrawlers, a jazz and roots band from New Orleans, was formed in 1994 by pianist Tom McDermott, sousaphonist Matt Perrine, and trumpeter Kevin Clark. Their debut album, New Orleans Nightcrawlers, was released in 1996 on Rounder Records. The group has performed regularly at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival since their inception. They received multiple awards, including Best of the Beat Awards in 1996 and 1997 for Traditional Jazz and Brass Band albums respectively, a Big Easy Award in 1997 for Best Contemporary Brass Band, and a Grammy Award in 2020 for Atmosphere as the Best Regional Roots Music Album. Their follow-up album, Too Much to Hold, was nominated for a Grammy in 2024.
