Biography

The late reggae and dancehall artist Natasja Saad (born in Copenhagen on October 31, 1974) – also known as Dou T, Little T and Natasja – gained posthumous attention for her vocal contribution to "Calabria 2007"; a reggae fusion remix of Danish DJ/producer Rune Reilly Kölsch's 2003 track. Saad's version took the Number 1 spot on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay. Saad, who was born to a Danish mother, Kirstine Saad, and Sudanese father, Ahmed Saad, began her music career in 1990s hip-hop duo No Name Requested. The group disbanded in 1996, and in 1998 Saad – who had trained as a professional jockey – was forced to take a break from music after falling off her horse. She made her return a few years later, releasing her first solo singles in 2004 – the "Cover Me" 12" single and the "Summercute" 7" – before unveiling her debut album, Release, in 2005. In 2006, the Jamaican-inspired artist won the reggae/Irie FM Big Break Contest in Jamaica but was tragically killed in a car accident in Spanish Town, Saint Catherine, Jamaica, on June 24, 2007.
