Walter Beasley, born May 24, 1961 in the United States, began his musical journey in Elâ¯Centro, California, where by age thirteen he was performing in Spanish with the band Losâ¯Elegantes. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1984, he joined the faculty as a shortâterm instructor, a position that became permanent. Walter Beasley released his selfâtitled debut album Walterâ¯Beasley in 1987, followed by Justâ¯Kickinââ¯It (1989), Intimacy (1993), and Walterâ¯Beasley Liveâ¯andâ¯More (1996). The 1997 release Tonightâ¯Weâ¯Love and the 1998 album Forâ¯Yourâ¯Pleasure solidified Walter Beasley's presence in contemporary R&B and smooth jazz. Subsequent albums Wonâtâ¯Youâ¯Letâ¯Meâ¯Loveâ¯You (2000), Rendezvous (2002), Goâ¯Withâ¯theâ¯Flow (2003), and Forâ¯Her (2005) expanded his catalog, while The Classicâ¯R&B Collection and Greatestâ¯Hits! compilations highlighted his enduring appeal. In 2007 he issued Readyâ¯forâ¯Love and Overjoyed!â¯Aâ¯Celebrationâ¯Ofâ¯Stevieâ¯Wonder, and in 2009 released Freeâ¯Yourâ¯Mind. His most recent studio effort, Meetâ¯Meâ¯atâ¯Myâ¯Place, arrived in 2022. Walter Beasley's career has earned him Boston Music Awards for Outstanding Jazz Artist (2001, 2019), a Berklee Trustee Award (2001), and SESAC National Performing Activity Awards for âCominââ¯atâ¯Chaâ (2001) and âRendezvousâ (2002), among other recognitions.
