Mountain Man is an American singing trio from Bennington, Vermont, formed in 2009. The group consists of Molly Erin Sarle, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, and Amelia Randall Meath, who met as students at Bennington College in Vermont. They began singing together seriously that year, influenced by Bulgarian women's choir music and artists such as Celine Dion. Their self-released recordings gained attention from influential blogs like Pitchfork in late 2009, which led to a record deal with Partisan Records. Mountain Man released their debut album Made the Harbor in 2010, which was well-received by critics for its traditional Appalachian folk sound. The trio toured extensively, including performances with Feist and The Decemberists. They have since released several albums, including Magic Ship (2018) and Look at Me Don't Look at Me (2020). Their music is characterized by a cappella harmonies and sparse instrumentation, often described as hauntingly beautiful.
