Moonchild Sanelly â born Sanelisiwe Twisha on November 20, 1987 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa â is an R&B/Kwaito/hip hop singer, songwriter, and dancer. Sanelly refers to her music as âfuture ghetto punkâ. She is known from her dyed blue hair and unique fashion sense. Born into a musical family, she moved to Durban in 2005 to study fashion at the Linea Fashion Design Academy. A year after moving, she started performing poetry and hip hop shows at the Durban University of Technology. She moved to Johannesburg in 2011 to further her musical career. After collaborating with other artists â including a track with DJ Shizma - her first solo release was the 2016 single âButhi Madlisaâ (featuring Jay Cubed). In 2018, Sanelly appeared on a single by Weird Together (âDown Lowâ) and toured Europe with Die Antwoord. After further collaborations â including a feature on Beyonceâs The Lion King: The Gift release â she released her Nüdes EP in 2020. The eight track release included the tracks âBashiriâ, âCome Correctâ, and âThunda Thighsâ.
