Biography
Mikhail Faerman, a classical pianist of Russian origin, was born on April 29, 1955, in BÄlÈi, Moldavia. He began piano lessons at age three and was admitted to the Central Music School of Moscow in 1962. Faerman studied at the Moscow State Conservatory from 1972 to 1977 under Jacob Flier. In 1975, he won first prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium in Brussels. After leaving the Soviet Union in October 1978, Faerman settled in Belgium and became a professor at the Royal Conservatory of Mons in 1979. He has since served as a jury member for various conservatories and performed at the International Festival in Seoul, South Korea, in September 1985. Since 1997, he has been a piano professor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels.
