Biography

Michelle McManus, born on May 8, 1980, in Glasgow, Scotland, is a singer who rose to prominence through her victory on the second series of Pop Idol in December 2003. Before her audition for Pop Idol, McManus lived in the Glasgow district of Baillieston with her parents and sisters. Following her win, she was signed to Sony BMG and released her debut single "All This Time" between late 2003 and early 2004, which debuted at Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for three weeks. Her debut album The Meaning of Love was released in February 2004, peaking at number 3 on the UK Albums Chart and Number 1 on the Scottish Albums Chart. Despite initial success, McManus was dropped by Sony BMG later that year due to disappointing record sales. In 2007, she founded her own record label, McMannii Records, and released a promotional single "Just For You" from her upcoming second album Dancing to a Different Beat, which was eventually shelved. McManus returned to music in 2012 with the release of "Take You There", a duet with Mànran, and in 2017, she was featured as a vocalist on the Choirs with Purpose release "We All Stand Together". In 2019, she released her second album Michelle McManus' Winter Wonderland, featuring the SoundSational Community Choir.
