Michael Moog, the stage name of Phillip Damien Gaines, was born in Newâ¯York City, Unitedâ¯States, and emerged as a DJ and producer in the early 2000s. After honing his skills in local clubs and remixing tracks for emerging house artists, he released the single "That Sound", which reached Numberâ¯32 on the UK Singles Chart in 2000. In 2001, a car accident temporarily halted his career, but following months of rehabilitation, he returned to the dance scene with "R U Ready" in 2002. Throughout the decade, Moog collaborated with a range of house musicians and performed across North America, solidifying his reputation as a contributor to club culture. The popularity of "That Sound"ânotably its 2006 sampling by Flanders on the single "By My Side"âunderscored his influence on the genre.
