Biography

Michael Palmer was born in Maxfield Park, Kingston, Jamaica, in 1960 and emerged as a dancehall and reggae singer. His career began in the early 1980s with the single "Mr. Landlord" and the 1983 release "Rent Man"; the track "I'm Still Dancing" soon followed, establishing his presence on local radio. Palmer released a series of albums from 1983 to 1990, including Showcase, Star Performer, and Love Is a Hurting Thing, and recorded notable singles such as "Ghetto Dance" and "Pull It Up Now". He collaborated with producers George Phang, Sugar Minott, and Jah Thomas, and performed at Reggae Sunsplash in 1984. After a brief hiatus in the 2000s, Palmer returned with new releases in 2013 and 2014, continuing to influence the Jamaican music scene.
