Mercenaire is an artist from Martinique, active on the Creole trap scene. He began his career as part of the Thug Music Gang, a collective of artists including Shin, Bruce Little and Da Boo. The collective plays an important role in the development of a local trap sound, blending the codes of the American genre with the Creole language and Caribbean reality. In 2013, Mercenaire took part in the compilation Trap épi Trafic, a collaborative project designed to showcase the emerging Martinican trap scene. This initiative helps to define a musical identity specific to the West Indies, with a desire to tackle themes rooted in everyday life. Over the course of his career, Mercenaire has collaborated with several figures on the local scene, including Tiitof, with whom he shares the track"Pour la monnaie". In 2023, he released the single"4 Saisons", accompanied by a video, illustrating an evolution in his musical and visual aesthetic. While developing his own artistic identity, Mercenaire remains faithful to his origins, blending contemporary sounds with a discourse rooted in his environment. In this way, he contributes to the structuring and visibility of the trap movement in the French West Indies.
