Biography
Meiyo Densetsu was formed in Japan on 18â¯Mayâ¯2023 by vocalist Kotani and guitaristâcomposer Kessaku, originally joined by keyboardist Utakazu, bassist Hidamari Yutori, and drummer Ohnami Melody. The duo debuted with the single "Loving" on 24â¯Mayâ¯2023, followed by a first live appearance at the GOOD FLAGS event in Sendai on 17â¯Marchâ¯2024. After a brief fiveâmember phase, the band continued as a duo, releasing the EP A bit of Peace (5g No Heiwa) on 21â¯Mayâ¯2025 and the single "Partner in Crime" on 25â¯Juneâ¯2025. In early 2026 they signed with Universal Sigma, and their single "New Goddess" entered the Billboard Japan Hot 100 at Number 76 on 8â¯July 2026, marking the bandâs first chart appearance. Subsequent releases-including "Lover's Tiff" (10â¯Aprilâ¯2024) and "Come Back" (12â¯Juneâ¯2024)-solidified their presence in the Japanese popârock scene through nationwide tours and multiple Spotify earlyânoise events.
