Biography

MC Poze do Rodo, born Marlon Brandon Coelho Couto Silva in the Favela do Rodo, Rio de Janeiro, is one of the most controversial figures in Brazilian funk carioca. Known for his raw, provocative lyrics, he gained notoriety within the funk proibidão subgenre, often sparking debates due to his songs' depiction of the harsh realities of life in Rio's favelas. After early brushes with the law, including a 2019 arrest for charges related to promoting crime, MC Poze do Rodo’s career took a sharp turn with the release of his breakout hit "Tô Voando Alto" in 2019, which topped Brazil's music charts for weeks. His track "Os Coringas do Flamengo" became a massive hit with over 8 million views on his channel and was adopted as the unofficial anthem for Flamengo’s football victories, further cementing his place in the Brazilian music scene. By 2021, MC Poze do Rodo was earning substantial sums from performances. In 2022, he released his first full-length album O Sábio, and by 2023, he expanded his reach internationally with shows in Europe and the United States, performing in places like Florida and New Jersey. This success was followed by other popular singles such as "Desabafo" (2023) and collaborations with local artists like MC Ryan SP, Vulgo FK, and Dennis. In 2024, he released the track "Mídia" featuring Filipe Ret, MC Ryan SP, and Mainstreet.
