Donell Barton Jr., known professionally as MC Mack, was born on March 20, 1975, in Memphis, Tennessee. He began his music career by founding The Kame group in 1990 with his half-brother Lil Corb and other local producers. MC Mack released his first widely recognized solo album, Chapters of Tha Mack For Life, in 2000, and quickly gained a reputation for his prolific output, producing over 30 albums and numerous mixtapes. Notable releases include Macknificent (2003) and the Pure Ana series, which began in 2009. He is known for his distinctive production style and emotionally charged rapping, blending multiple rap genres into a signature underground sound. MC Mack has maintained an independent career throughout, building a strong following in the underground hip-hop scene.
