Biography

Rock band Mayday Parade were formed in Tallahassee, Florida in 2005 and were created out of two local bands called Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment, both of whom decided to merge after hearing each other practice when they shared rehearsal studios. The new band created a lot of interest and when their independent debut EP Tales Told By Dead Friends was released in 2006 it eventually sold 50,000 copies without any record company support, an impressive figure for an independently funded EP. The band released their debut album A Lesson in Romantics in 2007 and although it received very little interest from music critics, fans of the band loved it and the album sold enough copies to be certified gold. Following on, their second album Anywhere But Here (2009) wasn't quite as well received, but subsequent albums like Mayday Parade (2011), Monsters in the Closet (2011), Black Lines (2015), Sunnyland (2018), and What It Means to Fall Apart (2021) have reversed that trend and all have charted well with the result the band have now firmly established themselves within the US alternative rock scene. Over the next few years, Mayday Parade kicked off a new chapter with a string of singles like "More Like a Crash," "Got Me All Wrong," and "Pretty Good to Feel Something," while also experimenting with a lo-fi EP in collaboration with Less Gravity. In 2025, they released the full-length Sweet, the first installment of a three-part album series, and launched their Three Cheers for 20 Years headlining tour across North America and Australia.
