Biography
Martine Clémenceau, born on March 18, 1949, in Thionville, Moselle, is a French singer. She began her career at age 18 when she signed with Pathé and later Eddie Barclay. Her breakthrough came in 1970 with the single "Quand Ce Jour Arrive / Il Faut Croire A L'Amour". In 1973, Clémenceau represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest with "Sans Toi", finishing fifteenth. She released her album Un Jour L'amour in 1972 and collaborated with Claude François on the hit duet "Quelquefois" in 1976. After François' death, Clémenceau resumed her solo career, releasing albums like Martine Clémenceau (1979) and Clémentine (1981), which included her biggest success, "Solitaire". The song gained international recognition through Laura Branigan's 1983 cover. In the 1990s, she wrote songs for Herbert Léonard and later became a vocal coach and artistic director.
