Biography
Marino Formenti is an Italian pianist, conductor, and performer born in 1965 in Merate, Italy. Formenti studied at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Oleg Maisenberg and Uroš Lajovic. Formenti relocated to Vienna in 1990. A breakthrough came in 2000 with a solo recital series at the LACMA Monday Evening Concerts. Formenti performed as an artist-in-residence at venues such as Lincoln Center New York and Wigmore Hall London. Formenti gained recognition for conceptual performances, including nowhere, which debuted in 2010 during the Steirischer Herbst festival. Formenti won several awards, including the Belmont-Preis in 2009 and Diapason d'or for Kurtag's ghost (2009) in 2010. Notable album releases include Notturni (2013), Liszt inspections (2013), and Face de la Chaleur (2003).
