Biography

Marie Hallynck, born in 1973 in Tournai, Belgium, is a cellist. She began her musical education in her hometown before studying under Edmond Baert at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles and later refining her skills with János Starker in the United States and Natalia Gutman at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. Hallynck's breakthrough came with numerous first prizes in national and international competitions, including the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in 1992. In 2000, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Philharmonie de Berlin. Hallynck has performed with notable artists such as Martha Argerich and Vadim Repine, and founded the Ensemble Kheops in 2006.
