Biography

American singer-songwriter and guitarist Marcus King, who was born in 1996 the son of blues-gospel star Marvin King with whom he performed as a teenager, formed his self-titled band in Greenville, South Carolina in 2015 with a debut release that year titled 'Soul Insight' which reached number eight on Billboard's Blues Albums chart. The band's line-up features drummer Jack Ryan, bassist Stephen Campbell, keyboard player Matt Jennings, saxophonist Dean Mitchell and Justin Johnson on the trumpet and trombone. They followed up in 2016 with an eponymous album that hit number two on the Blues Chart, number 14 on the Americana/Folk Albums Chart and number 42 on the Rock Chart. Their 2017 EP 'Due North' went to number two on the Blues Chart.
