Biography

Malchishnik, a Russian hip hop group from Moscow, formed in 1990. Initially conceived as a boy band by producer and manager Alexey Adamov, Malchishnik featured five young members recruited from the Arbat breakdancers. The group's breakthrough came with the release of their debut album ÐÐ¾Ð³Ð¾Ð²Ð¾ÑÐ¸Ð¼ Ð Ð¡ÐµÐºÑÐµ in 1992. In 1993, they released ÐÐ¸ÑÑ Ð±Ð¾Ð»ÑÑÐ°Ñ Ð³ÑÑÐ´Ñ, followed by ÐÐµÐ³Ð»Ð¸ in 1995. The group disbanded in the late 1990s but reunited in 2000 with DJ Dan and Mutabor recording new material under Classic Company. Their reunion albums include ÐÐµÐ½Ð° (2004) and WeekEND (2005), though these did not achieve mainstream success. Malchishnik's contributions helped establish Russian rap as a genre, marking them as pioneers in the early 1990s.
