Madmans Esprit, a South Korean black metal band formed in Seoul in 2010 by Kyuho Lee, is notably influenced by the visual kei aesthetic, reminiscent of bands like Dir En Grey, Opeth, Radiohead, and X Japan. Kyuho, who also handles vocals and plays all instruments, describes their music as "Depressive Suicidal Blackened Pop". The band's current lineup includes Kyuho Lee, Juho and Somyul on guitars, Geon on bass, and Limu on drums. The band moved to Berlin a few years after their formation, where they recorded the albums Nacht, released in October 2018 by Gan Shin Records, and 무ìì ì ììí (Conscientization of Unconsciousness) in 2022. They embarked on a European tour in 2017. However, Kyuho Lee's stint abroad was cut short as he had to return to Seoul for military service.
